Welcome to Skokiewood Candles. I am a native San Franciscan attended UC Berkeley back in the day and now am a minivan driving mama of two active boys,
Why I do what I do... I come from a family of artisans. My (late) grandfather, father and grandmother were all self taught: a soap maker/soap factory owner, machinist and seamstress. Although I never met my grandfather, I spent many an hour watching my dad work on the family cars or at the library pouring through books. My grandmother taught me how to sew and I use her sewing scissors in my work. I too am self taught so I feel like my craft is keeping a family tradition alive, in my own way.
Why Candles? My little guy has asthma and seasonal allergies so he's very, very sensitive to smell. However, we are a candle loving family so it's been a labor of love to find what works not just for us as a family but for customers who may be traditionally used to stronger scents. Our candles are soy which are both eco-friendly and have longer burn times. In addition, all our products ranging from the wax to the containers are made in the USA.
Each candle is hand poured and I work in small batches of 8-12 candles at a time but I do keep inventory on hand and welcome large orders. Just message me directly and we can make the appropriate arrangements.
Take a look around--I know you like what you'll see and thank you in advance for supporting a small business that strives to make high quality products that everyone can enjoy.
